Teaching the Teachers
For many school students the only access they have to Christianity is through a Christian teacher. How important is it that such teachers are equipped to answer questions biblically?
The Anglican Education Commission and Moore College Department of External Studies have begun a special training arrangement. It will enable teachers and co-ordinators in Anglican colleges, Christian schools and government schools to acquire a better understanding of the Bible through the Diploma of Biblical Studies, taught through intensives rather than weekly evening lectures.
“Because of the increasing pressure teachers find themselves under, making time for regular evening study is almost impossible. Being able to pursue the Diploma of Biblical Studies programme through Intensives in the July and January vacations will be very attractive to scores of teachers. As its focus is on teaching, each of the Intensives will have a special emphasis on application to the classroom.”
Dr. Bryan Cowling (CEO, Anglican Education Commission)
“One of the exciting things about this new arrangement is the inclusion of a new Christian Studies Methodology unit, the only one of its kind in New South Wales. This very exciting initiative is designed to bring the teaching of Christian Studies to the same professional standard as other subjects taught in our schools.”
Rev. Gary Nelson (Director, Moore College External Studies Department)
The new programme began in July 2008. Brochures and application forms have been sent to all Anglican schools, but can also be downloaded by following the link below. To request a mail out of brochures, please call the Department of External Studies at Moore College on (02) 9577 9911.
